Brief History

Silk Road

The Great Silk Road ... What do we know about it? Imagination immediately draws the boundless sandy sea of the sultry desert. Cutting through the dunes, like waves, endless caravans loaded with rich goods wander along with it ...

However, this is only part of the story. The Great Silk Road stretched thousands of kilometres, driving caravans through the scorching deserts, and through picturesque oases, and along mountain passes. Throughout the journey, cities and entire civilizations arose, flourished, and devastated. Many destructive wars, conflagration, famine and pestilence were seen by ancient cities located along the Silk Road. For centuries, multilingual oriental bazaars roared, hundreds of years merchants drove precious silk and stones, spices and dyes, gold and silver, exotic birds and animals along dusty caravan roads.

The Great Silk Road is a grand trade route connecting the East and the West and causing the emergence of many unique cities, historical monuments, customs, and even states. The foundation of the Silk Road dates back to the 2nd century BC when the Chinese ambassador Zhang Qian visited the countries of Central Asia with a diplomatic mission. Until the 2nd century BC. the path from Europe to Asia was cut off at the borders of China, since the mountain systems of Asia - the Tien Shan, Kun-Lun, Karakorum, Hindu Kush, the Himalayas - hid the most ancient Chinese civilization from the rest of the world. The case helped to discover the richest western direction.

On the next post, we will learn about the routes of the Silk Road.
See you!
